This project consists of a single prime bid. The work of the project is the complete tear-off of existing modified Bitumen roofing in the Gym and replace with EPDM roof.

BID SUBMITTAL AND OPENING

Owner will receive sealed lump sum bids until the bid time and date at the location given below. Owner will consider bids prepared in compliance with the Instructions to Bidders issued by Owner, and delivered as follows:

1:00 p.m., local time.

Bids will be thereafter publicly opened and read aloud.

1.3 BID SECURITY

A.
Bid security shall be submitted with each bid in the amount of 5 percent of the bid amount. No bids may be withdrawn for a period of 60 days after opening of bids.
Owner reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to waive informalities and irregularities.

PREBID MEETING

A.
Pre-bid Meeting:
A Pre-bid meeting for all bidders will be held at the Office of the Board of Education, Marengo Middle School, 816 Grant Highway, Marengo, Illinois 60152 on Monday, January 30, 2020 at 1:00 p.m., local time. Prospective prime bidders are requested to attend.

Bidders’ Questions:
Architect will provide responses at Pre-bid conference to bidders’ questions received up to two business days prior to conference.

1.5 DOCUMENTS

Printed Procurement and Contracting Documents:

Obtain after January 27, 2020, by contacting DGD Printing, 214 North Rockton Avenue, Rockford, IL 61103, (815) 961-0000. Documents will be provided to prime bidders only; only complete sets of documents will be issued.

Deposit:
$50.00 made payable to the Owner. For the one set of documents, the full amount is refundable if documents are returned in usable condition within 14 days after the opening of the bids.

Shipping:
Additional shipping charges of $15.00 will apply.

3.
Additional sets of documents are available at the printing and mailing rate determined by DGD Printing. Payment for these documents is to be made to DGD Printing. No refunds on additional documents.

1.6 TIME OF COMPLETION

A.
Successful bidders shall begin the Work on the receipt of the Notice to Proceed (June 08, 2020) and substantial completion date of July 10, 2020.

BIDDER’S QUALIFICATIONS

A.
Bidders must be properly licensed under the laws governing their respective trades and be able to obtain insurance and bonds required for the Work. A Performance Bond, separate Labor and Material Payment Bond, and Insurance in a form acceptable to Owner will be required of the successful Bidder.

PREVAILING WAGE RATES

A.
The successful bidder must comply with the Illinois Statutes requiring the payment of prevailing wages by all contractors working on public works.

1.9
PREFERENTIAL HIRING

A.
The successful bidder must comply with the Illinois Statutes requiring hiring of Illinois residents.
